CAP INDEX Introduces RedFlag™ Risk Assessment Software Tool – Customized for Financial IndustryRedFlag™ Helps Identify Potential Hazards for Natural Disasters, Crime, and Terrorism
Exton, PA, October 11, 2005 – CAP Index, Inc., the world leader in crime vulnerability and loss prevention analytics, has introduced RedFlag™, a risk assessment software tool in a version customized specifically for financial institutions.
CAP Index said RedFlag™ has designed-in flexibility to handle the risk assessment needs of a financial institution’s varied facilities – from headquarters and operations centers to local retail banking and home mortgage centers. Banks and other financial institutions can purchase RedFlag™ software and user licenses or can contract with CAP Index Professional Services for integrated risk assessments, analytics, and security and loss prevention planning. RedFlag™ software, which is priced according to the number of authorized users, and professional services are available immediately.
Jon Groussman, CAP Index President, said: “We have been hearing from our clients, including many of our large financial clients, about the need for a simpler and more effective electronic approach to risk assessments than has been available. RedFlag™ is a powerful but user-friendly risk assessment tool that helps companies assess all aspects of their properties and identify potential risks from natural disasters, crime, and terrorism. We customized RedFlag™’s risk assessment “engine” specifically for the financial business environment – including customer and employee safety, vault operations, ATMs, and customer data storage. We are now working on additional versions of RedFlag™ customized for other industries.”
RedFlag™, which is powered by Sandia National Laboratories’ RAMPART™ software application licensed by CAP Index, consists of a friendly user interface, a threatening-events database, and an expert system of rules that embody finance industry-specific knowledge about buildings and operations.
RedFlag™ incorporates ZIP code-specific U.S. Geological Survey data about natural hazards – hurricanes, tornados, earthquakes, and winter storms – and CAP Index’s acclaimed CRIMECAST™ data about crime risk vulnerability.
Using RedFlag™, a security, loss prevention, or property manager can survey all aspects of a facility – from location and operating status of alarms, locks, CCTV, and access control; to types of operations occurring within the facility; to historic occurrences of natural and crime loss events in and around the site. RedFlag™ provides an assessment of the likelihood of losses due to natural hazards, crime inside or outside the building, infrastructure loss, fire, and terrorism. Risks of specific events are calculated on a spectrum from “negligible risk” to “very high risk.” RedFlag™ can also be used to run different scenarios to determine which additional safeguards or upgrades are likely to have the greatest benefit. Risk survey findings can be graphically depicted both for single sites and for multiple sites. A user can usually complete a site risk assessment in about 90 minutes.
RedFlag™ system requirements include Windows; 800 MHz Intel Pentium III processor (or equivalent) and later; Windows 2000; Windows XP; 256 MB RAM; 1024x768, 16-bit display (32-bit recommended); and 650 MB available disk space.
