CAP INDEX LICENSES SANDIA NATIONAL LABORATORY’S RAMPART™ RISK ASSESSMENT TOOL

CAP Index Will Integrate RAMPART™ Software into its Location Risk Assessment Solutions

Philadelphia, PA, September 20, 2004  – CAP Index, Inc., the world leader in crime vulnerability and loss prevention analytics, announced today that it has licensed the RAMPART™ risk assessment method and software from Sandia National Laboratories, a U.S. Department of Energy National Laboratory managed and operated by Sandia Corporation.  The license gives CAP Index exclusive rights to market RAMPART™ to the North American financial, health care, retail, and commercial real estate markets as well as non-exclusive rights for federal, state/provincial, and local government and other private sector markets.  The license is effective immediately.  Financial terms were not announced.

Jon Groussman, CAP Index President and Chief Operating Officer, said:  “After extensive study of virtually all existing risk assessment software, CAP Index determined that RAMPART™ is the most robust, intelligent, and user-friendly risk assessment software tool available.  RAMPART™ has already been extensively used by Sandia to assess security risks at government sites managed by the General Services Administration.  CAP Index’s Professional Services division will incorporate RAMPART™ into our location risk assessment and loss prevention services.”

RAMPART™ consists of a user interface, a threatening-events database, and an expert system of rules that embody industry-specific knowledge about buildings and tenants and Sandia’s risk assessment and security expertise. RAMPART™ is designed to be user friendly and intuitive, enabling risk consultants or security personnel to conduct a thorough building risk analysis in less than two hours.  RAMPART™ analyzes survey findings, determines a building’s overall risk level, and prioritizes specific risks by level of severity.  Risk survey findings can be graphically depicted both for single sites and to compare risk at multiple sites.
