Citywide Regional CRIMECAST Maps
CRIMECAST Regional Maps are 3' x 4' color maps detailing the risk of crime for larger geographic areas. Each map covers approximately 30 x 42 mile areas, with National Current CAP Index scores provided at half-mile intervals. Available in both electronic and paper delivery formats, CRIMECAST Regional Maps are ideal for delivery services, home healthcare, executive protection, real estate planning, and general proximity applications. Regional data can be delivered in one of three formats: Contour with grid scores, Tract scoring, or Tract with grid scores.
Color Scheme - For every location on a CRIMECAST Regional Contour Map, crime risks are identified visually using a modified version of the green, yellow and red color scheme found on a traffic light. Areas presenting the lowest forecasted crime risk (CAP Index score of under 100) are shaded green; areas presenting slightly above average risk (CAP Index score between 100 and 199) are shaded yellow; and areas presenting levels considerably above average risk (CAP Index score of 200 or above) are shaded in darkening hues of red.
Contour with Grid Points - Grid points are designated on the CRIMECAST Regional Contour Map every half-mile north to south and east to west. Scores are computed for each grid point using the CRIMECAST® Radius/Threshold Methodology. These scores are displayed on the map. Grid scores identify whether a point in a dark red contour has a score of 800 (eight times the national average) or a score of 2000 (twenty times the national average).
Tract Format - Individual census tracts are color-coded depicting the level of risk within the tract to identify potential origin of crime or criminal behavior. These reports identify possible effects of risk on neighboring tracts as well as level of risk within the tract itself. A tract with score of 1200 (twelve times the national average) will greatly affect the address-specific scores within a nearby tract with a score of 150 (one and a half times the national average) due to criminal traveling patterns, thus justifying a more in-depth analysis of the "lower risk" property.
Tract with Grid format- Combines both color-coded individual census tracts with CAP grid points, thus detailing both perceived and actual risks.
